This opportunity on the BYU campus features a tour of a full-sized replica of the biblical Tabernacle, which as described in the Bible was a portable Israelite temple, originally constructed at Mount Sinai. A brief display in the Joseph Smith Building lobby prepares visitors for a guided walk-through of Tabernacle replica.
The primary purpose of bringing this Tabernacle replica to BYU’s campus is for educational purposes. However, the public is also invited to tour the Tabernacle replica during evenings and on weekends.
The Bible depicts the Tabernacle as sacred space, the primary place of Israelite worship. We invite visitors to reflect on the sacred nature this had for ancient Israelites and to act accordingly as they tour this replica.
All tours are free and begin in the Joseph Smith Building lobby, but are only available with an EventBrite ticket, either printed or as an email, for a specific timed tour.
Public access is free, but by tour and ticket only.
Tours begin every 30 minutes, on the hour and half hour, and last 50 minutes total.
Each tour can only accommodate 49 people maximum.
All tours begin at the display in the Joseph Smith Bldg (JSB) lobby, not at the Tabernacle entrance.
We expect this opportunity will be of interest to many people. Please understand that it is first reserved, first served! We apologize in advance to those who are interested but are not able to join us due to space limitations.
