Church History and Doctrine

Message from the Chair

The Department of Church History and Doctrine seeks to “Radiate the Restoration” through teaching diligently, researching expediently, and engaging charitably. Our primary professional responsibility is excellent teaching of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that helps students develop faith in the restored gospel, become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, and strengthen their abilities to seek faithful answers to their questions. We teach doctrinally sound gospel truths directly and devotedly from the scriptures and words of the prophets. We strive to be powerful role models of faithful discipleship. As researchers, we produce high-quality academic, pedagogical, and gospel scholarship that advance the purposes of Religious Education.
