Biography

Edward Stratford is an Associate Professor of History at Brigham Young University. His research focuses on the Old Assyrian trade between Mesopotamia and Anatolia during the 19th century B.C. His publications include a monograph entitled, A Year of Vengeance: Time, Narrative and the Old Assyrian Trade (2017) and a volume edited with Lorenz Rahmstorf Weights and Marketplaces from the Bronze Age to the Early Modern Period (2019). He is currently working on projects that include a follow-up to his monograph, and work on chronology and narrative reconstruction from undated Old Assyrian letters.

Research Interests

Edward Stratford finds engaging ideas of place and time as they impinge on conceptualizing the Old Assyrian trade.

Teaching Interests

Prof. Stratford enjoys teaching topics on Ancient Near Eastern history. He also teaches world history survey classes and classes on the practice of history.
