As a convert, Evelyn appreciated the opportunity to learn from the great men she had the privilege of working for and with. Along with running the office, she was the go-to person for anyone needing help, whether it was a faculty member who had stapled his fingers together, a young student employee who was homesick or needed advice on how to do laundry or a place to be for Thanksgiving, or someone else needing assistance who had the good fortune of wandering into her office. All of them received her very best because above everything else, people mattered. —Elizabeth Schiess Groo (Evelyn's daughter)
