Dr. Roger G. Christensen is an instructor of Church History and Doctrine. Prior to joining the BYU Religious Education faculty in 2017 he served as mission president of the Ecuador Quito Mission. Before being called as a mission president, Dr. Christensen worked for several years as Assistant to the Commissioner of the Church Educational System and as the secretary to the Church Board of Education and the Boards of Trustees of BYU, BYU-Hawaii, BYU-Idaho, and LDS Business College. He also served previously as the Church Budget Officer. Prior to his career with the Church, he worked as a CPA in an international accounting firm and Director of international auditing for a global construction company.

Ecclesiastically he as served as Mission President - Ecuador Quito Mission, Stake President - South Jordan Utah Parkway Stake & South Jordan Utah Highland Stake, and Branch president (3 times) in addition to working with the Young Men and Elders in various ward and stake assignments.

He enjoys music, athletics, and reading (particularly Church history and historical biographies). Other little known or interesting facts: Brother Christensen says he is living evidence that Heavenly Father has a sense of humor (sometime you may want to ask him about the details).

He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (BYU) and a PhD in Educational Leadership (University of Nebraska-Lincoln)

He was born in Salt lake City and raised in Concord, CA. He served a full-time mission to the Ecuador Quito Mission. Shortly after returning from Ecuador, he married Christine Cecilia Baker, from Oakley, ID, and they are the parents of 11 children. Roger & Christine currently live in Bluffdale, UT.
